Did you know? Yams are a root crop native to Africa.  The word yam is derived from the African word ‘nyami’, which means ‘to eat’. They are often mistaken for sweet potatoes, and vice versa, but they are actually two separate vegetables from different botanical families.  Yams contain more natural sugar and have a higher moisture content.  They are a good source of dietary fibre, vitamin C, potassium, and manganese.
